The teams split the first 2 games of the series.

I was one of the first Flag Twirlers..The Ramettes. Our first performance was at a home basketball game. I think Marion Murphy (this name just popped in my head) was ‘our leader’. The performance was to the song ‘Up, Up And Away’, and our flags were flying in the air (not on purpose) and so were some of the ‘arm guards’. We were nicknamed The Ragettes for a while. It wasn’t funny then…but that same year at the Helldorado Parade we won the Grand Prize Trophy beating out everyone including USC. We were grand in our gold top hats, boots & tuxedos.

It was so neat to run across this web site! Although I didn’t graduate from Rancho, my brother Jerry and I started Rancho in Spring of 1969, 1970 and part of ’71 before moving out of state. We were both very active in the Drama Dept. (Jerry more than I)…it was headed by Mr. Johns who was a pretty cool teacher! I remember many trips made to various drama competitions too. I also liked the chorus Dept. and still practice my singing when I can. We mostly hung out with the Nellis AFB kids (Brats as they were called)…I had a huge crush on someone named Richard Block there at school too. Another memory is that I do recall a BIG riot that broke out in the year of ’70? Or was it “71? Gosh – gettin’ hard to remember that far back! Does anyone remember that? Viet Nam was getting over – desegregation came along and They were bussing kids from West Las Vegas to Rancho H.S. Anyways, I will cherish my memories of going to Rancho always and living in Las Vegas. We lived in North Las Vegas which was pretty nice at the time. I heard it has changed. Anyways…Had a lot of fun times… Oh…also… I am also trying to get a hold of a yearbook – or maybe just the yearbook page with my brother and I listed in it. My name was Janie (Jane D. To date the girls have 6 bats,some balls, some catching equipment to use between varsity and JV.. sOFTBALL fund had only $2,000.00 and that has been exhausted with buying some helmets etc. Varsity has a tournament in March and Coach Thatcher is paying the fee from her own pocket– The girls need help with equipment their 1st game is march 5th. Just finished looking at the pictures from “The Last Dance”. I sure wish I had heard about this earlier so that I could have flown in for it. It would have been great seeing the old place and familiar faces. Please let me know if anybody has information on a 30th reunion for our class.

Ahoy there fellow Rams!I was recently contacted by Cheri Davis regarding the special reunions next week, and am looking forward to the events. I’ve never been to any of our reunions, as life just happens and things get away form you. A bit about myself, in case you may remember me…As a sophomore in 68-69, I was heavily into acting at Rancho, being involved with and starring in a few plays, such as “Pure as the Driven Snow”. I was the founding president of Rancho’s drama club, The Dramatic Arts Organization; and swept a number of awards in the State Drama Competition. Teacher Ron Johns was my mentor, friend and father figure figure to me.I was also on the Campus Journal staff as art director and humor columnist, and created the new name for the paper, “The Rampage”, which wasn’t adopted til after I left Rancho. Teacher Joan Shriner and I were very close.I admittedly couldn’t hold up under all the pressures that “fame” in my little corner of the world at the time put on me, and I regretfully quit school, but returned 5 yrs. later to graduate from V0-Tech in ’76…but Rancho was and still is “my heart”.Career-wise, I worked 15 yrs. at the Review Journal (as did old h.s. news staff classmate Mike Henle), in the advertising dept., and retired as Art Director of the R.J. Following that I worked at Shonkweiler-Marcoux Ad Agency, and then for Fletcher Jones Advertising (creating all print ads, as well as creating and starring in a series of zany t.v. commercials roughly 7 yrs. ago).After Rancho, I also returned to acting, professionally. I took on the stage-name of Jason Doucette, and still go by that today. By the mid-80’s, I gained local and nationwide attention as The Las Vegas Pee Wee, and for 10 yrs. was the only officially-sanctioned Pee-Wee Herman impersonator. I branched out into creating latex costumes, and started Doucette Entertainment, which became the top costumed-character entertainment company in the state. With characters ranging from movie-quality Barney to the Ninja Turtles, we entertained at all sorts of children and adult parties, as well as special events and touring shows with Legends In Concert.My two sons and I were also competing bodybuilders thru the years, and at 50 yrs. old I won the Mr. Nevada title 2yrs. ago. A documentary has been in the works on me entitled “Finding Strength”, produced by long-time film-maker friend locally, Chuck Bejarano.Currently, believe it or not, I am a taxi-driver for Whittlesea Taxi, and often bring my persona of Taxi’s Reverend Jim into the cabs with me. And yes, I still perform when I can find the time, even as Pee Wee.So much for a short history, but it’s been a full life thus far! I look forward to meeting up with all of you again soon. Some of my best friends from Rancho were Rudy Scott and James Fales, among many other fellow actors there. Greetings! I can’t believe it was 30 years ago that I graduated from Rancho High School! Our graduation was on a sweltering June day in the old LV Convention Center Rotunda. The air conditioning was questionable and the gowns were just too dense a fabric for any of us soon-to-be grads to do anything but pour sweat! My outrageous friend, Red Robbin blew a whoopie whistle when I walked down the isle and everyone cracked up. I miss RHS days, but I’m still friends with several people I met there — Lisa McLeroy now living in Memphis and Mark Willoughby here in SoCal. I live in Burbank, CA but come to LV to visit my sister and her family and I’m always amazed — and in many ways dismayed — by the growth of my little home town.
